Dan is unequivocal in what keeps him excited about Bowman. One of the most satisfying aspects of his career is being able to help clients in a tangible way – getting involved in the intricacies of each individual business in each individual industry. Those industries include construction and real estate, agriculture, wineries, the medical profession, gaming, trucking and other small businesses.
Dan has a tenacious approach to being proactive in seeking tax saving strategies, such as credit studies and other incentives to generate tax savings. He provides business valuation services, devises compensation systems and consults on entity reorganization.
Prior to returning to the Stockton area, Dan spent five years at a national accounting firm. While being recruited by Bowman, Dan was adamant about coming to a firm with a solid reputation in the community.
Graduating from UC Davis with a degree in Animal Science, Dan went on to earn an MBA from California State University, Sacramento, and later a master’s degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University.
Dan’s birthday is April 14 — the day before the IRS tax-filing deadline —so his family doesn’t throw him a birthday party on the actual date. His mom faithfully brings his birthday cake to the office every year, to the delight of the entire firm.
Unplugged: Dan and his wife Chris have two grown daughters, and are proud grandparents. In his off-hours, Dan loves the outdoors. He bird hunts with his two Labradors retrievers. “I have three seasons in my life,” he says. “First, of course, there’s Tax Season. Then there are Golf Season and Hunting Season.” As a certified hunter education instructor, Dan always finds time to teach hunter safety classes, mainly to young people.
