Deborah B. Jewell

New Jersey-born and Maryland-raised, Debbie Jewell believes equally in fiscal and physical fitness — the former for her Bowman clients in the construction and real estate industries, the latter for herself ("I try to work out several times a week," she says").

Debbie came to Bowman in 1998. She works in the firm's Audit Department, providing accounting, audit and tax services to clients. For her, "the most satisfying day is when I take a complex, messy project and dig in to sort through all the data, make it balance, and end up with an organized, sensible accounting."

Not surprisingly, she adds, "The most fascinating part of my job is the exposure to all the different clients and businesses that we assist."

Debbie earned two bachelor's degrees: in Business Administration from Rutgers College; and in Accounting, from Teikyo Post University in Connecticut.

Off The Record: Debbie met her husband, Steve, at Rutgers. They lived in Massachusetts and Connecticut before relocating to California in the mid 1990s. "While still on the East Coast," she says, "I worked for an advertising and public relations firm. When the auditors came to our office, I watched them work and said, 'That's what I want to do for a living!"
