Daryl R. Petrick, CPA
Since joining Bowman in 1987, Daryl has become the firm's chief recruiter, visiting college campuses to find "the kind of person who has an equal share of accounting and people skills. I've been told that our hiring process is very detailed and thorough — which is a good thing, since we're hiring people who'll be the next generation of Bowman professionals."Daryl, who holds a master's degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University and a bachelor's in Business Administration from California State University in Sacramento, specializes in the following areas: affordable housing, real estate development, construction, vineyards, wineries, small businesses, small business owners, and high-net-worth retirees. He proudly points out that he also represents the operator of a hot-dog stand.
"I help business owners solve tax and financial problems," he says. "I help make sure that my clients don't become hobbies for the IRS."
Daryl became a certified public accountant at a very early age (22) — which isn't surprising when you consider that his mother taught him to read before he even started kindergarten. "I scared my teacher half to death when I started reading in class one day," he recalls with a laugh. As a result, he ended up skipping two grades in elementary school and graduating from high school at 15.
Affiliations: Daryl is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the California CPA Society and the California Council for Affordable Housing, and the Financial Planning Association.
Off The Record: In his (rare) off-hours, Daryl and his wife Tami (who manages a store that sells stone products throughout the world) and son Benjamin enjoy international travel. "I love going to places I've only read about and forming my own observations about countries and people," he says. "If they ever repeal the tax law, I'll probably be a writer."
